Liberace had nearly $25,000.00 worth of jewelry stolen from the Statler Hilton Hotel in Dallas, Texas on February 14 -15, 1974. He was performing in Dallas at the time of the theft. Adolph Lewin was arrested with some of the stolen jewelry on his person, and more in his safe. Lewin received six months for possession of stolen goods. Liberace was also a victim of an extortion attempt in 1969.
