Jack Johnson, a black boxer, went to Mexico and became a fugitive from Justice. On April 5, 1920, Johnson made an attempt to surrender to the authorities, but a rainstorm and mud slides kept him from reaching his destination. He was traveling by automobile. He was wanted for a violation of the Mann Act in Chicago. He later surrendered to the authorities.
